The European Parliament offers different traineeships within its Secretariat in order to contribute to the vocational training of young citizens, and to the understanding of the working of the institution. These traineeships are awarded for a period of 5 months.
Eligible candidates should:
- be aged 18+;
- hold a university level diploma(s);(EQF level 6) or for a limited number of traineeships, a vocational education qualification obtained within the EU (EQF levels 3, 4 or 5);
- have a thorough knowledge of one of the official languages of the EU and a very good knowledge of another official language of the EU;
- provide an eligible criminal record;
- not have worked for more than two consecutive months within an EU Institution or body;
- not have carried out a study visit in the secretariat of the European Parliament six months prior the beginning of the traineeship.
Trainees receive a monthly allowance depending on the places of assignment.
Candidates can apply for 3 traineeship offers per campaign.
Positive Action Scheme for trainees with disabilities
The inclusion of persons with disabilities is a priority for the European Parliament. In addition to the standard selection procedure, applicants can now benefit from the Positive Action Scheme for trainees with disabilities.
Who can apply
Persons who have a long-term physical, mental, intellectual, or sensory impairment of at least 20%.
What are the benefits
Shortlisted candidates from this scheme who meet the general Schuman traineeship criteria may receive an offer.
They may receive an additional payment of up to 50% of the monthly grant to compensate for additional costs incurred due to their disability.
Appropriate measures will be taken to provide reasonable accommodation, ensuring trainees with disabilities can fully access, participate in, and advance in their training and employment.

Applications submitted after the deadline or spontaneous applications cannot be considered.
